A woman in her 40s was killed Monday after her pickup truck crashed on Jacksonville’s Westside, near the Bulls Bay Highway area. The wreck happened just before 5 p.m. on Pritchard Road, where investigators say her truck collided with a sedan before careening into a tree. Emergency crews blocked the area while they worked the scene, and officials said no other injuries were reported.
What officials say
According to News4JAX, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the pickup was headed east on Pritchard Road when it veered to the right. The driver then overcorrected, sending the truck into a sedan carrying two people.
The impact pushed the pickup into the median and into a large tree, investigators told the station. The woman driving the truck was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The two people in the sedan were not hurt, according to the sheriff’s office.
