Downtown Durham just picked up a new late-night hideout. Eve, a women-owned botanical lounge on Parrish Street, quietly opened this week. The low-lit room is thick with plants, folds open onto a wooden bar and includes a built-in DJ booth, giving the space an intimate, after-hours feel. The cocktail program leans botanical and mezcal forward, with several specialty drinks priced around $16.
According to Axios, the lounge is the first brick-and-mortar from event producers Uma Ramiah and Jessica Breland, who built a following with pop-ups and private events. The venue is listed at 108 E. Parrish St., per the city's business directory listing on Downtown Durham.
A Modern Garden After Dark
On its own website the venue calls itself “a modern garden after dark,” promising a “low-lit jewel box” where vines creep and leaves spill across seating areas. The owners say the room will shift from afternoons for reading and working into evenings for pop-ups, listening parties and private events. Those details are outlined on Eve.
What To Drink
Drinks skew inventive and botanical. A reviewer ordered the Serpentine, a mezcal cocktail with green-chile liqueur, sage-lime cordial and a smoked-salt rim. The bar manager recommended Angel Numbers, a blend built with goji-berry-infused gin, white-peach soju, eucalyptus honey, yuzu and strawberry yogurt. Both cocktails were reported at about $16, according to Axios.
Menu, Events and Hours
Eve's sample menu shows Southeast Asian influenced small plates, rotating wines and a tight craft-beer list, and the venue offers several zero-proof and tea-based options on its drinks list. The site lists hours as Wednesday through Sunday from the afternoon into the evening and highlights chef-driven pop-ups, artist showcases and late-night screenings as part of its programming, per Eve.
Why It Matters
Eve adds a woman-owned, curated lounge to a busy Parrish Street corridor that has seen a steady trickle of new bars and restaurants. Local roundups and social posts flagged the opening, and WRAL noted community posts sharing the news.
