Early Saturday in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, two men were shot and injured as the neighborhood was just starting to wake up, police said. Officers arrived around dawn and found both men suffering from gunshot wounds.
What Happened
One victim, a man in his 30s, was shot in the chest, left arm and left leg and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, according to police. The second man was shot in the chest and transported to Montefiore. Both are expected to recover.
Officers were called to the scene just before 5 a.m., according to News 12 The Bronx. The outlet reported that authorities said no arrests have been made in the shooting itself, although investigators made an unrelated arrest after a person allegedly assaulted officers at the scene.

The shooting unfolded in the NYPD's 47th Precinct, a part of the Bronx that has seen repeated gun violence and stepped-up police presence in recent months.
