A pre-dawn argument on a Mount Vernon sidewalk ended in gunfire early Sunday, leaving a 40-year-old man hospitalized in serious condition and kicking off a Central District shooting investigation, according to police.
What police say
Officers were called around 3:24 a.m. today to the 800 block of Guilford Avenue, where they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious condition, police told WBFF.
Central District detectives have taken over the case and say the shooting followed a verbal dispute along the block. No arrests have been announced.
