Rachel Zoe’s Bel Air home was hit by burglars early Sunday while the stylist and reality star was out of town in Las Vegas, according to police. The break-in triggered the house alarm, prompting officers to respond to the neighborhood. Patrol units reportedly spotted two men leaving the property and took one of them into custody. Authorities have not said yet what, if anything, was stolen.
Law-enforcement sources told TMZ that Zoe’s alarm company received an activation alert, which set officers in motion. When patrol units arrived, they allegedly saw two male suspects leaving the area and detained one of them. TMZ reported that no one was inside the house at the time and that investigators were still trying to determine whether any items had been taken.
Part of a string of high-end break-ins
The incident comes on the heels of burglaries targeting "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" stars Kathy Hilton and Sutton Stracke last November, when both of their homes in the Bel Air area were hit while they were in Las Vegas for events, according to NBC Los Angeles. One of those homeowners told NBC Los Angeles that thieves smashed a kitchen window and made off with designer handbags and jewelry. In the aftermath, the victim upgraded surveillance and brought in 24-hour security. Detectives told the outlet they were exploring possible links between the separate break-ins in the neighborhood.
Zoe was out of town for a VIP opening
As TMZ noted, Zoe was in Las Vegas for the opening of Zero Bond Las Vegas when the burglary at her Bel Air home went down. Coverage of the launch highlighted a star-studded guest list, underscoring that the stylist was away from Los Angeles at the time of the break-in.
Investigation ongoing
Police say the investigation remains active and have not released additional details about the arrested suspect or any potential recovered property. Neighbors and recent victims in the area have already tightened security since last fall, and detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and pursuing leads as they work to piece together what happened at Zoe’s home.
