A night out for a taco salad in Morrow turned into a trip to the police station after a local woman says she chomped down on a razor blade hidden in her meal, leaving her with cuts to her lips and tongue and a lot of unanswered questions.
Sabrina Wideman‑Reese told 11Alive she was eating a taco salad at Las Trojas when she suddenly felt something sharp in her mouth. She said she pulled out a 1.5‑inch razor blade that had been mixed in with the lettuce, cheese and meat. The blade, she said, sliced her lips and tongue and added to her emotional pain after she had buried her husband less than two weeks earlier.
Where it happened
The taco salad came from Las Trojas' Morrow location on Mount Zion Road, according to Las Trojas. The Mexican restaurant is a regional cantina that lists taco salads among its menu offerings.
Inspection records and police probe
A Georgia Department of Public Health inspection of the Morrow restaurant on Feb. 5 documented several violations, such as containers of food stored on the ground, and gave the location a score of 81, 11Alive reports. Morrow police have launched a criminal investigation to determine whether the razor blade was placed in the food on purpose or ended up there by accident. A manager at the restaurant declined to comment to the outlet.
What officials say and next steps
Morrow police have not released additional details about the investigation or given a timeline for when the public might learn more. Wideman‑Reese says she is healing from her injuries and wants investigators to find out how a razor blade wound up in her meal.
Consumer safety
Public health inspections like the one conducted at the restaurant are intended to catch conditions that could put diners at risk. Officials advise that customers who suspect their food has been contaminated should stop eating immediately, keep the food as intact as possible and contact local authorities so investigators can collect evidence.
