Ballantyne is getting a new gourmet hangout. Reid's Fine Foods is moving into the former Duckworth's space at 14015 Conlan Circle, where the Charlotte-born grocer plans to drop a full-scale market, restaurant and evening wine-bar scene under one roof. The company is targeting an early 2026 debut for the Ballantyne Quad location.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the Ballantyne concept will follow Reid's now-familiar hybrid model, pairing a specialty grocery with dine-in service. The outlet reports that this latest outpost continues the operator's push to replicate its market-and-restaurant format across Charlotte. The Business Journal story remains the most recent public look at the deal and Reid's plans for the space.
Store listing confirms address
Reid's own locations page backs up the move. The grocer lists "Reid's Ballantyne (Coming Soon!)" at 14015 Conlan Circle, confirming both the address and the intent to plant a flag in the neighborhood, per Reid's website. The listing labels the site as "Coming Soon" but stops short of offering a firm public opening date.
Former tenant and space size
The new location takes over the former Duckworth's Grill & Taphouse and clocks in at roughly 6,500 square feet, based on local reports and commercial listings. A commercial-property listing indicates that Reid's has signed a long-term lease for the freestanding restaurant building, and local coverage has pegged the build-out as roughly a $1 million project, as reported by KISS 95.1.
Owners say it will mirror other locations
For anyone who already shops Reid's elsewhere in Charlotte, the Ballantyne lineup will sound familiar. Thomas Coker, part of the ownership team, told What Now Charlotte that the new store is expected to mirror the offerings at the SouthPark and Myers Park locations. "We’ll have the full offering, meat shop, prepared foods, grocery options, coffee and a wine bar," Coker said.
Ballantyne's retail boom
Reid's is joining a neighborhood that is already in full-on retail growth mode. Ballantyne has been high on developers' lists for years, and it keeps landing big projects, including a Wegmans now under construction nearby that is expected to draw more shoppers and additional tenants to the area. Axios Charlotte reports that Wegmans and other large-scale developments are actively reshaping Ballantyne's retail mix.
For now, Reid's is keeping the details close. The site remains labeled as "Coming Soon" on the company's Reid's locations page, and the grocer has not yet released a public opening date, hiring plan or ribbon-cutting timeline.
