The future store is expected to occupy a pad next to Hobby Lobby and join a roster of national chains already rising at the site. City officials have not released an opening date or even a rough timeline for when shoppers can start filling their carts.

According to CBS Sacramento, city leaders confirmed on Tuesday that Trader Joe's has committed to the Riverbank location and identified the Oakdale-and-Claribel crossroads as the planned site. The outlet noted that the Trader Joe's on Dale Road in Modesto remains the closest store for many Stanislaus County shoppers, and that no estimated opening date has been provided for the Riverbank outpost.
What Crossroads West Is Bringing In
Crossroads West is a mixed retail subdivision located across from the original Crossroads shopping center and is being built alongside a large new-home community, per MVE, Inc.. City planning staff have described a tenant lineup anchored by Costco, with national retailers such as TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, plus dining options including Raising Cane's and Olive Garden. Hobby Lobby is currently under construction at the center, Citizen Portal shows.
What This Means For Shoppers
The official store directory from Trader Joe's currently lists Modesto as the nearest location for many Riverbank and area residents, so a Riverbank store would shorten the drive for local fans of the chain. Trader Joe's has not yet posted any Riverbank opening information on its website.
City officials and the developer are expected to share more details, including a projected opening timeline, as leasing and permitting move forward. For now, Riverbank shoppers can watch Crossroads West continue to fill out with national retailers while they wait for those signature Trader Joe's aisles to arrive.
