The Rouxpour’s Memorial City Mall outpost is on its way out. The manager at the Memorial City location has confirmed that the New Orleans–inspired restaurant will close sometime this year, though a specific end date is still under wraps. The spot, which opened on the Square at Memorial City in late 2019, is one of four Rouxpour locations across the Houston area, and the chain has yet to publicly announce a final day of service for the Memorial City restaurant.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the manager at 303 Memorial City Mall #604 confirmed that the restaurant is indeed closing but declined to offer a firm date, instead directing questions to the restaurant’s ownership. Talk of an impending shutdown picked up this week after a TikTok user said staff had told her the place would close on May 31. A Memorial City Mall spokesperson told the paper that “any questions regarding the Rouxpour are being handled directly by the Rouxpour team.”
The Rouxpour launched its first location in Sugar Land in 2010 and later expanded to Katy’s La Centerra and Baybrook Mall in Friendswood, according to CultureMap Houston. On its website, the company describes the Memorial City restaurant as a French Quarter–style space with a courtyard, a large bar, and an oyster station, serving a menu centered on gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and chargrilled oysters, per The Rouxpour.
Memorial City Mall Context
Memorial City Mall itself is in the middle of a major redevelopment that trade coverage says will rework both interior and exterior areas and shuffle around tenant layouts, according to The Real Deal. It is unclear whether those changes factored into Rouxpour’s decision to close; neither the mall nor the restaurant has publicly explained the move beyond the manager’s confirmation, the Houston Chronicle reports.
For now, The Rouxpour’s online listings still show the Memorial City location in Suite 604, complete with operating hours and menus, suggesting the restaurant remains active on company pages, per The Rouxpour. We will update this post if the chain releases an official statement or announces a final closing date.
