Two people are facing firearms charges after Boston police say they chased a group into a Roxbury alley and recovered a pair of loaded handguns behind a Maple Street building on Thursday. The department said no one was reported seriously injured.

Officers from District B-2 were called to the rear of 32 Maple Street for a breaking-and-entering in progress and, according to the Boston Police Department (Official), found six people gathered in the alley. When officers approached, two of them took off running. After a short foot chase, police detained those two and reported recovering a Sig Sauer P365 XL loaded with 11 rounds and a Canik TP9SF holding one round.

The department identified the adult suspect as 18-year-old Zyon Allen-Gonzalez of Braintree. The Facebook post says he is facing several counts tied to allegedly carrying and possessing firearms and ammunition. A 15-year-old male from Dorchester is charged as a delinquent on similar weapons offenses, and police say the other six people at the scene were identified and released.

How officers say the arrest unfolded

According to the department’s account, officers went to check the rear of the property after the reported break-in and came across the group in the alley. Two people bolted, prompting a quick pursuit on foot. Police say they found the two handguns discarded in the alley and then took the pair into custody, identifying everyone else who had been present before clearing the scene.

Past calls at the same address

This is not the first time 32 Maple Street has landed on the department’s radar. Last year, Boston police shared an investigation update after officers responded to a shots-fired call at the same address and collected ballistic evidence in the area, according to the Boston Police Department.

Charges and legal exposure

The Facebook post lists specific charges against Allen-Gonzalez, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license (second offense), carrying a firearm without a license (second offense), unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition subsequent offense. The juvenile is accused on comparable delinquency counts.

Under state law, unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm can bring a state prison sentence of between two and a half and ten years, according to Mass.gov. How that plays out in any given case depends on how prosecutors charge it and what happens in court.

Where this fits in a larger pattern

The Roxbury arrests arrive amid what police describe as a recent surge in gun recoveries involving teens across Boston. Earlier this month, officers reported arresting a 15-year-old after finding a loaded handgun in Dorchester, according to the Boston Police Department. The department has been regularly spotlighting such seizures as part of directed patrols and youth-violence enforcement efforts.

What happens next

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court, according to the department’s Facebook post. Detectives will forward the recovered evidence to prosecutors as the case moves through the system, and officers are asking anyone with additional information to contact investigators.
