A head-on crash on FM 110 outside San Marcos Friday evening killed a 48-year-old woman and sent the other driver to the hospital, according to police. The collision happened at about 6:09 p.m. in the 9800 block of FM 110 between Highway 80 and State Highway 21. San Marcos police, fire, and EMS crews responded, and both drivers were taken to Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle.
What Happened on the Road
The crash involved a dark-colored Hyundai Sonata and a white Honda Accord. According to KEYE/CBS Austin, investigators say a preliminary review indicates the Honda crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the Hyundai head-on.
Victim and Hospital Update
San Marcos police identified the Hyundai driver as 48-year-old Estella Rodriguez Autry. She was transported to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, where she was later pronounced dead. The Honda driver was also taken to the same hospital and is expected to survive. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police told KEYE/CBS Austin.
