The Chick-fil-A on Berlin-Cross Keys Road in Sicklerville has gone dark for a multi-month renovation aimed squarely at speeding up that ever-busy drive-thru. Local reporting and township approvals show the project will expand back-of-house operations and rework the outdoor layout with an eye toward boosting throughput. The restaurant is expected to stay closed for roughly three to four months, with an unofficial target to reopen in June.
What the remodel includes
According to 42Freeway, the upgrade centers on a roughly 540-square-foot addition off the rear kitchen to increase food-prep capacity, paired with a conversion to a dual-lane drive-thru that will feature two overhead canopies at the ordering point. The restaurant sits in front of a Lowe's, with a Target next door, and crews have already moved in to start structural work and adjust traffic patterns on the property. The outlet is working off an unofficial June reopening timeline, per the reporting.
Township approval and interior changes
As detailed by Patch, Gloucester Township signed off on the renovation plans in 2025. The approval covers an approximate 390-square-foot expansion of the building and about a 540-square-foot increase in kitchen space, which will come at the expense of dining room capacity. Indoor seating will shrink from roughly 130 seats to about 80. Patch also notes that the plans call for canopies at both drive-thru ordering and pickup points, intended to improve comfort for staff and guests in all kinds of weather.
How this fits into Chick-fil-A's South Jersey push
Chick-fil-A has been busy in the region. A Glassboro restaurant opened in February 2026, according to a company press release, and another Gloucester Township location is under construction at the Gloucester Premium Outlets, which 42Freeway reports is being built to capture high-volume shore traffic. Larger building footprints and dual-lane drive-thru designs are part of a broader South Jersey strategy focused on higher-volume operations and faster pickup times.
Where customers can go while it's closed
While the Sicklerville kitchen is offline, nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants, including the new Glassboro location and other Gloucester County spots, will be handling the extra traffic. Customers are encouraged to check local restaurant pages for current hours and mobile-order options before heading out.
