NoDa is getting a fresh Irish watering hole, and it is slipping into the neighborhood with barely a whisper. Fenian's Keep, a drinks-first Irish pub from the team behind South End's Brigid’s, has quietly appeared at 423 E. 36th Street, with new signage going up this week. The compact spot is pitching itself as a budget-conscious neighborhood pub centered on ales and spirits rather than a full kitchen.
Owner and vibe
Kyle Musumeci, owner of Brigid’s Irish Pub in South End, is steering the new NoDa project and says he wants to bring a classic community-pub feel to the area. According to What Now Charlotte, Musumeci said, "My biggest thing has always been being part of the neighborhood," and he plans TVs for sports, live music, and a cost-conscious, no-food menu.
Signage and next steps
As reported by the Charlotte Observer, Fenian’s Keep recently put up its sign at the East 36th Street address, a visible sign that the long teased concept is moving forward. CharlotteFive noted that it had reached out to the bar for more details and was waiting on a response.
Where it sits
The pub is set to fill ground floor retail space in the NoDa Wandry development at 423 E. 36th Street, right next to Waterbean Coffee. NoDa Wandry lists the building address on its site, and mapping listings such as MapQuest show Waterbean Coffee at 423 E. 36th St., Unit B, backing up the side by side setup.
How NoDa is changing
NoDa has been on a steady run of new bars and restaurants as recent residential projects funnel more people onto North Davidson. Axios Charlotte has tracked similar openings in the neighborhood, including a returning Irish pub, highlighting the local appetite for casual, neighborhood focused drinking and dining spots.
When to expect it
What Now Charlotte reported in September that the team was aiming for a January opening, but the later than expected signage suggests that timeline slid. The official Fenian's Keep site is still a simple "Coming Soon" page with an email sign up for updates, and no firm opening date has been announced yet.
