Soon, Middleburg will not have to make that 30-minute trek to Jacksonville for a plate of fried chicken and collard greens. Sistas Place, a new Southern-cuisine and soul-food spot from owner Nikki Lawson, is slated to open in late May at 2475 Blanding Blvd in Middleburg. The restaurant is planning classic comfort dishes, weekend brunch and space for small events, with DJs on Friday and Saturday nights to go alongside chicken and waffles and mimosas.
Menu, seating and brunch
According to What Now, the roughly 75-seat restaurant will feature staples like fried chicken, catfish, mac & cheese and collard greens, plus a Soul Food Potatoes plate built on Idaho potatoes with a choice of protein and sides. What Now also reports that Sistas Place will host brunch on Fridays and Saturdays and bring a DJ to weekend nights.
Where it will be
The restaurant is taking over a unit in the retail strip at 2475 Blanding Blvd, a shopping center on Blanding Boulevard with multiple tenants and available storefronts. A commercial listing for the property confirms the address and the unit layout where Sistas Place is expected to open. LoopNet
Why Middleburg?
Lawson, who told What Now she is originally from Alabama, sees Sistas Place as filling a noticeable gap in Middleburg’s dining options. "It's going to be great for Middleburg, where we don't have any soul food places. Normally, you have to drive 30 minutes into Jacksonville," she said to What Now.
The late-May target means Sistas Place could arrive in time for summer gatherings, although the owner has not yet announced a firm opening date or full operating hours.
