A late-night parking hassle outside a South Beach Subway ended with an employee in handcuffs after police say she pulled a gun on six people and warned, “I am going to knock you all out,” in a crowded plaza lot.
The confrontation unfolded around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday outside the Subway at 1424 Alton Road. Witnesses told officers the trouble started when the group’s truck could not leave because another car was improperly parked in the small shopping plaza.
What police say
According to Local 10 News, Miami Beach police say the worker, identified as 33-year-old Willnat Shantae Young, became confrontational when one of the victims stepped out of the truck.
Officers say Young asked a co-worker for a purse that held a handgun, then walked toward the truck with the weapon in a “low-ready” position and made the threat that sent the group reaching for their phones to call 911. Two independent witnesses later backed up the victims’ version of events, police said.
The tension did not end in the parking lot. Police say the situation escalated inside the store as bystanders tried to detain Young and that she “began to tense up,” which officers reported forced them to take her to the ground before placing her under arrest.
Charges and booking
Young was booked on charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, improper exhibition of a weapon and resisting an officer without violence. Records show her bond was set at $6,000.
She was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, the county jail facility in northwest Miami. The county lists the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and its booking contacts on its Corrections & Rehabilitation website, according to Miami‑Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation.
Context
Clashes that jump from customer-service squabbles to drawn guns have not been limited to South Beach. Similar run-ins have surfaced around South Florida in recent months.
In one November 2025 case in Miami Gardens, a fast-food worker allegedly pulled a gun on a drive-thru customer and was later booked on multiple firearm-related charges, as reported by WFLA.
What happens next
Young is expected to make an initial court appearance. The charges against her are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Local 10 News reports that authorities and witnesses provided the account of what happened, and the outlet has contacted Subway seeking comment.
