What started as a routine welfare check in Spring quickly turned into a shooting investigation after a stranger showed up at a homeowner's door saying he had been shot, according to Harris County authorities.
Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 were called to the 3800 block of FM 2920 on Monday after a homeowner reported that an unknown man had come to her residence claiming he had a gunshot wound. A short time later, deputies found the man at a nearby emergency-care facility. Law enforcement kept a visible presence in the area while they tried to piece together what had happened.
What Constable Herman Is Saying
According to Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 on Facebook, deputies were dispatched after the homeowner reported the unknown man at her door. The post states that deputies later located him at a nearby emergency-care facility and that the "investigation is ongoing." The constable's office said deputies stayed in the neighborhood while detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence.
When Welfare Checks Turn Violent
This is not the first time a welfare check in Harris County has ended with gunfire. In February, deputies conducting a welfare check in northwest Harris County found a man dead and a woman critically injured after a shooting at an apartment complex, as reported by Click2Houston. The Houston Chronicle also reported that a July 12, 2025 welfare check response became a shooting investigation when deputies discovered a slain man and a wounded woman.
What Neighbors Need To Know
Authorities have not released the wounded man's name or said whether any criminal charges are expected in the FM 2920 case. Residents who want official updates can follow the constable's social media channels or visit the Precinct 4 website at constablepct4.com. Officials also remind the public to call 911 and keep a safe distance from active scenes instead of trying to investigate on their own.
