DeKalb County police say a Stone Mountain house on Memorial Drive was operating as a drug distribution hub, with fentanyl, cocaine mixes and a cache of weapons tucked inside. After executing a search warrant last week at a residence in the 6200 block of Memorial Drive, officers arrested three people and seized what they describe as a "deadly" amount of fentanyl along with dozens of firearms. The investigation, they say, is far from over.
What police say they seized
According to CBS News Atlanta, investigators recovered 26 guns and a wide range of narcotics from the home, including about 3.7 ounces of fentanyl and roughly 23.2 ounces of a cocaine/fentanyl mix. The haul also included nearly 14 pounds of marijuana, 1.6 kilograms of methamphetamine, hundreds of pills (including oxycodone and ecstasy/fentanyl tablets), THC gummies and multiple digital scales. Police characterized the quantity of fentanyl as "deadly."
Real-time crime center helped coordinate
DeKalb officials credited the county's new Real Time Crime Center with helping investigators by feeding live camera and sensor data to detectives. The center, which local media reported was unveiled in December, centralizes video, license-plate readers, drone feeds and gunshot-detection tools, according to the county's description at DeKalb County.
Arrests and investigation
Police executed the search warrant last week and arrested three people at the home. Authorities have not released names or charges, CBS News Atlanta reports. Investigators say the probe remains active and that evidence is being reviewed by prosecutors to determine formal charges.
Why it matters
County leaders are pointing to the seizure as an early example of how new investments in technology and staffing are supposed to play out in real time. The idea is straightforward: combine the Real Time Crime Center with recent pay and recruitment efforts, then use that mix to pull dangerous drugs and weapons off the streets faster and help cases move more quickly through the system.
