Target is gearing up for a return to the Promenade at Casa Grande, the regional power center along Interstate 10, with plans to move into a long-vacant big-box space. The comeback bid lands as the center racks up new leases, fresh openings and a hotel project, signaling a reload of its anchor lineup.

According to ConnectCRE, Target intends to reopen the center’s large vacant box, reported there at about 137,000 square feet, as part of a broader repositioning at the Promenade. The same report highlights recent leasing wins, including Five Below taking roughly 10,394 square feet, Tillys signing for about 7,019 square feet and Burlington agreeing to a roughly 20,469-square-foot space.

Lamar Companies, which owns and markets the Promenade, lists the property at 1005 N. Promenade Parkway and touts a national co-tenant lineup that includes HomeGoods, Burlington and Five Below. Lamar’s marketing materials play up the center’s visibility and regional pull as key reasons national chains are returning or expanding there.

Local planning records and reporting show a preliminary minor site plan has been filed with the city describing parking-lot upgrades and façade renderings for the building, a document that pegs the space at about 126,842 square feet, according to PinalCentral. That coverage also noted a Target spokesperson had earlier told local reporters the company “did not have any new-store news at this time,” hinting that formal store-level confirmation may follow permit reviews.

What’s Moving In

Target is not the only fresh name heading to the Promenade. HomeGoods and Ashley Furniture have opened, and additional specialty retailers are signing on, per ConnectCRE. That reporting also notes a four-story Fairfield by Marriott hotel under construction on site, along with two adjacent pads sold to Applebee’s, with construction previously slated to start in 2025.

Why It Matters For Casa Grande

The Promenade sits at a high-visibility interchange about 48 miles southeast of Phoenix Sky Harbor, a location Lamar says helps attract shoppers from across Pinal County and beyond. Restoring a Target would bring back a major foot-traffic magnet to the center, potentially boosting in-line retailers, restaurants, and service providers while supporting construction and retail jobs.

Target also lists a Casa Grande Promenade location on its corporate new-store page, although the company has not posted an official opening date. Timing will hinge on permitting and tenant-improvement schedules. We have contacted Lamar and Target for comment and will update this story if the companies share additional details.
