A high school track meet at Judson ISD’s Rutledge Stadium in Converse briefly turned tense when an armed person was arrested after a parent reported suspicious activity. District officials say officers recovered a firearm and used a Taser to take the person into custody. No students or spectators were reported injured, and the meet went on without interruption.
What officers said
According to the district, the incident unfolded around 8:50 p.m. on March 5, when officers were called to the home-side restroom after a parent reported suspicious activity involving several people. When officers tried to contact the group inside, one person tried to run. Officers recovered a firearm, and when the suspect resisted, they deployed a Taser before taking that person into custody.
The individual was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance, then transferred to law-enforcement custody. No injuries were reported. The Judson ISD Police Department led the response, with assistance from the Converse Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, according to KSAT.
Where it happened
The arrest took place at D.W. Rutledge Stadium, Judson ISD’s outdoor facility on South Seguin Road in Converse, which regularly hosts district and regional meets. The stadium’s location and event listings indicate parents are allowed on the home stands during meets, and officials say on-site staff and campus police serve as the first point of contact for safety concerns.
