A brazen cake grab by four teenage girls at an Overlea Nothing Bundt Cakes has the neighborhood talking and the shop’s owner demanding accountability. Surveillance video that has spread widely on social media shows the teens slipping behind the counter and walking out with several cakes while a young cashier stands by, clearly rattled and outnumbered.
The owner, Tia Foster, said her employee was frightened and focused on staying safe. According to CBS Baltimore, the video shows one girl stepping behind the counter as the cashier tells the group, “You can’t do that.” Foster told the outlet that the worker “did the right thing” by not escalating the situation and said Baltimore County police, along with a school resource officer, are now involved in the aftermath.
Local Shop, National Brand
Nothing Bundt Cakes is a national franchise chain, with the brand’s website listing dozens of locations across the country, along with online ordering and a store finder. Individual franchise owners like Foster handle day-to-day customer service and safety inside their own shops, which means episodes that go viral can quickly shift from corporate branding issues to very local neighborhood concerns.
Owner Presses for Accountability and Worker Support
Foster told CBS Baltimore that “the cashier, she’s very concerned for her safety, mental health as well,” and said the bakery has been getting calls from people checking in on the young employee. She urged parents and school officials to confront the behavior head-on and said the teens should face some form of consequence, such as counseling or community service.
Investigation Ongoing
Baltimore County police have opened an investigation into the incident, and Foster said school personnel are helping with the next steps. Local business directories, including a listing on MapQuest, place the bakery on the Belair Road and Nottingham corridor. As the video continues to circulate, it is fueling calls, comment threads, and conversations around Overlea as residents wait to see whether any criminal charges or school disciplinary action will follow.
