Neighborhood context
Montclare is not often the scene of deadly violence, which adds weight to this latest killing. In October 2022, a 20-year-old woman was shot and killed on the 6800 block of West Grand Avenue, part of a small number of homicides the neighborhood has recorded since 2018, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Those figures underline how relatively rare, and deeply felt, such incidents are in the area.
Detectives are still searching for answers
Per ABC7 Chicago, detectives from Area Five are continuing to investigate the shooting. Police have not announced any arrests or released descriptions of potential suspects, leaving the case wide open as they work to piece together what happened on that stretch of West Grand Avenue.
