According to PIX11, officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired near 246-15 Francis Lewis Boulevard on Wednesday. When they arrived, police found the 14-year-old with a gunshot wound to his left leg and took him to a nearby hospital. Authorities told PIX11 the teen is expected to survive.
PIX11 reported that a video later posted to the Citizen app captured the scene after the shooting. No arrests have been announced, and detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood for leads.
Video Circulates as Residents React
Neighbors and people following the incident online described seeing police tape blocking off the area, with emergency crews and detectives moving in and out as they gathered evidence. A video circulating on the Citizen app showed the aftermath of the shooting, and residents said gunfire on an otherwise quiet stretch of Francis Lewis Boulevard left them rattled.
Investigators have asked anyone with video or eyewitness accounts to step forward as they work to piece together the timeline of what happened.
