North Austin’s Domain is about to get a little louder and a lot more agave. Mexican Sugar, a Pan-Latin dining concept from FB Society, is slated to open at The Domain in North Austin on March 24, bringing scratch-made Latin plates, an agave-focused bar and a sprawling indoor-outdoor patio to the shopping center. The new spot is billing itself as a neighborhood hangout, with chef-driven dishes, weekend brunch and a tequila-and-mezcal program built for lingering.
Opening Day, Hours And Reservations
According to the locations page for Mexican Sugar, the Austin outpost is set to open March 24, 2026. Posted hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant notes that reservations can be made online or by calling ahead of the debut.
Menu, Brunch And The Agave Bar
The kitchen leans into traditional techniques, including hand-pressed tortillas made from heirloom masa, and features signature plates such as Angus skirt steak, barbacoa tacos and chicken mole. On weekends, brunch service will roll out dishes like Benedictos Rancheros and cajeta French toast. Behind the bar, the focus is squarely on agave spirits, with curated tequila, mezcal and sotol flights alongside a lineup of handcrafted cocktails.
The nearly 11,000-square-foot dining room is set up as a showpiece, with custom lighting by metal artist Rae Ripple and a large mural by Austin artist Ruben Esquivel. The site also includes a 1,770-square-foot patio and is designed to host roughly 330 guests, with a private dining room for about 60, as reported by WhatNow.
Where It Sits In The Domain
Mexican Sugar is moving into the former Museum of Ice Cream space in The Domain Northside, joining other FB Society concepts already clustered in the mall area. The Domain’s official store page lists the restaurant as “coming soon” and shows an expected opening date of April 30, 2026, which does not match the brand’s March 24 opening date announcement. Simon lists the restaurant on its directory, and Community Impact previously reported on the lease and FB Society’s plans for the high-profile spot.
Chain Context
Mexican Sugar operates under Dallas-based FB Society, the hospitality group behind concepts such as Haywire and Sixty Vines, which already have homes at The Domain. The group has been expanding Mexican Sugar into multiple Texas markets in recent years, part of a broader wave of large, experience-driven full-service restaurants moving into The Domain as it solidifies its role as a dining hub for North Austin. The brand’s Texas growth has been outlined by the Chron.
What To Know Before You Go
Early reservations are advised for opening weekend, especially for those eyeing brunch; walk-ins may be possible, but weekend crowds at The Domain are a given. Local previews note that happy hour is slated for weekday afternoons, with discounts on wines, cervezas, sangrias and frozen drinks. For reservations and full details, visit Mexican Sugar, and for a local preview of the concept, see WhatNow.
