A Union County man will spend years in state prison after a judge in Luttrell handed down a 16-year sentence in an aggravated sexual battery case tied to a Plainview police investigation.
Union County resident Boone Beverly was sentenced on Tuesday to a total of 16 years, with 10 of those years ordered to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections. The remaining six years reflect a separate term already on his record, according to officials. The case originated with the Plainview Police Department and was prosecuted by the Eighth Judicial District.
As reported by WATE, District Attorney Jared Effler confirmed that Beverly was found guilty in April 2025. Prosecutors Ron Laffitte and Joe Duncan represented the state at Tuesday’s sentencing hearing.
Court timeline and local probe
The jury’s guilty finding came in April 2025, and the case returned to court this week in Luttrell for formal sentencing. Local officials said the matter involved standard coordination between municipal law enforcement in Plainview and the Eighth Judicial District throughout the investigation and prosecution.
Legal implications
Under Tennessee law, aggravated sexual battery is a Class B felony and typically brings sex-offender registration requirements along with long-term supervision conditions, as outlined in the Tennessee Code Annotated. Those obligations can follow a person long after release from custody.
Court records will determine how Beverly’s new 16-year term lines up with the existing six-year sentence, including whether any portion is served consecutively or concurrently. Any future filings or appeals could affect the exact timing of when he begins serving his time in state prison.
