A fast-moving fire ripped through the Courtyard Village apartment complex in West Sacramento on Wednesday, temporarily forcing 10 residents from their homes but, thankfully, leaving everyone unhurt. Tenants clustered in the courtyard as firefighters swarmed the scene, working to contain the flames and shield neighboring buildings from damage.
Firefighters' response
West Sacramento firefighters, backed up by crews from the Sacramento Fire Department, launched an aggressive attack using water, aerial ladders and vertical ventilation to beat back the blaze. Crews concentrated on keeping the fire from racing along the rooflines and jumping to other parts of the complex, according to ABC10.

Courtyard Village, at 3429 Evergreen Circle, is a large affordable-housing complex with roughly 294 one and two bedroom units, according to the City of West Sacramento's housing list. Residents and relief
In all, 10 residents were displaced, and the American Red Cross responded to help families with immediate needs such as shelter and basic supplies. Apartment managers told reporters that other units within the complex "may be available" for affected tenants to move into, according to ABC10. Officials repeated that there were no injuries reported and said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

City and property officials said they will complete structural and safety inspections before allowing anyone back inside and will work to connect displaced tenants with temporary housing options.
