
A late-night walk near White Rock turned deadly yesterday when a woman was hit while crossing the street near her Dallas apartment and later died at a nearby hospital, according to police.
Police: driver remained at the scene
Dallas police were called around 10:30 p.m. to the 2700 block of North Buckner Boulevard, where officers found the woman lying in the roadway, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. Investigators said the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene, was detained by officers, and taken into custody. The driver is expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Authorities have not yet released the names of either the victim or the suspected driver, citing the ongoing investigation.
What the charge means
Police said the driver is expected to face an intoxication manslaughter charge. Under state law, intoxication manslaughter is defined in Texas Penal Code §49.08. Prosecutors will review physical evidence from the scene along with any toxicology testing results before filing formal charges.

The Dallas Police Department’s investigation is ongoing, and detectives with the vehicle-crimes unit are handling the case, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
