Eight years after Michael and Julianne Fischbach were found shot to death inside a car on Kennedy Avenue in Cleveland's Buckeye neighborhood, their daughter is still begging for answers that have never come.
Cheyanne Smith says her family remains in the dark about who killed her parents and why. She is now renewing a very public plea for information and calling on investigators to be more transparent. The killings, first reported on Jan. 15, 2018, remain unsolved.
Reward Still Active
The case has never officially gone cold, at least on paper, and the reward is still on the table. Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County continues to offer up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case and lists the victims as having been found in the 9000 block of Kennedy Avenue.
According to Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, tips can be submitted anonymously, and anyone who helps crack the case could qualify for the reward. The family and investigators are hoping that renewed attention might finally shake loose a crucial detail from someone who has stayed silent.
Daughter Questions Investigation
In an interview with WOIO, Smith said the grief has not faded and the anger has not cooled. She is now publicly urging authorities to "revisit this case with 100% honesty, and 100% transparency."
Smith told 19 News that detectives originally informed her that nearby security cameras were not working at the time of the killings. Years later, she wants that claim revisited and re-checked as part of a broader push to take a fresh look at every detail.
She also told 19 News that she first spoke with the station in September 2025 when the reward was posted. Since then, she says, no major leads have emerged and there have been no public signs of a breakthrough.
Officials Have Not Sought State Help
WOIO reports that the couple were found on Jan. 15, 2018, and that Cleveland police did not respond to the station's requests for an update on the investigation. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed that it has not been asked to assist with the case.
That leaves the investigation solely in local hands, with no announced suspects and no charges filed. Smith says she is turning again to the media in the hope that someone who knows something will finally decide to speak up.
