El Paso’s own Amigo Man is set to headline one of the city’s biggest holiday traditions, taking the grand marshal slot for the 90th Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade, organizers announced Wednesday. The Thanksgiving Day procession is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, rolling down Montana Avenue under a “Famous Sports & Movie Scenes” theme. Sun Bowl officials and parade partners also named longtime community force Estine Davis as a posthumous honorary grand marshal, saluting her decades of float-building and civic work. The choice pairs a major milestone for the city mascot with a tribute to a local leader who helped shape the parade from the ground up.
Organizers lay out route and sponsors
According to the Sun Bowl Association, the Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. on Montana Avenue, traveling from Ochoa Street to Copia Street. The association lists the 90th edition on its parade page and notes it is presented by Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers as part of the Sun Bowl’s annual community celebrations.
Amigo Man marks a golden anniversary
Amigo Man is celebrating 50 years as El Paso’s sunny mascot this year, and Visit El Paso points to the character’s 1976 debut and ongoing role as a city ambassador. Putting the mascot at the front of the parade ties his golden anniversary to one of El Paso’s biggest stages, giving families a familiar face to cheer on as floats and bands move down Montana.
Posthumous honor for a parade maker
The Sun Bowl and its sponsor named Estine Davis a posthumous honorary grand marshal, a recognition reported by KVIA. Davis, who ran Estine's Eastside Barbershop and spent decades designing and building floats for the Sun Bowl, died Nov. 10, 2025, according to her obituary at Sunset Funeral Homes. The honorary title recognizes her roughly half-century of volunteer work that helped define the parade’s look and its neighborhood traditions.
How to watch and what to expect
Organizers say this year’s parade will feature marching bands, equestrian units, float entries and specialty performers, with a livestream posted to the Sun Bowl’s event page for those who cannot attend in person. For tickets, route maps and the livestream link, the Sun Bowl Association is directing viewers to its parade page for updates and official details. Volunteers working on floats for the 90th edition say they are planning larger-than-usual displays to match the sports-and-movie theme.
