s'ONO!, the Hawaiian-Korean kiosk that has long anchored the Tivoli Student Union food court, is stepping out into the spotlight this summer. Founder Misty Wise is slated to debut a full brick-and-mortar restaurant called Ono Era in Aurora in June, trading a campus counter for a standalone space while keeping the original student-facing operation intact. The idea is simple: take the greatest hits from the Tivoli line and offer them to an entire neighborhood, not just the lunchtime rush between classes.

Ono Era To Take Over Former Golden Wok Spot On Hampden

As reported by Westword, Ono Era is expected to open in June at 15282 East Hampden Avenue in Aurora, in the space previously home to Golden Wok. The move gives Wise a full commercial kitchen and actual room for dine-in service, a major upgrade from the kiosk setup. She has said that additional capacity should mean more catering and the freedom to roll out new dishes. Public licensing records also list Golden Wok at that address, according to the Colorado state liquor roster.

Owner Says Loyal Crew Helped Make The Jump Possible

"A big part is having a good crew that I can depend on," Wise told Westword, crediting longtime staffers with helping her build s'ONO from a small campus counter into a concept ready for its own dining room. Before launching the kiosk, she cooked at Hapa Sushi Grill and handled delivery runs for Golden Wok, an experience that eventually fed into the fusion menu students know now. The larger Aurora kitchen will allow her to bring back Korean barbecue staples that had to be cut from the campus lineup, while keeping crowd favorites like poke and fried dumplings. The upcoming opening marks the latest chapter in what has become a decade-long climb from pop-up kiosk to full-service restaurant.

Campus Roots Stay Put As Concept Grows

s'ONO started as a modest kiosk serving the Auraria campus, then gradually expanded its footprint inside Tivoli with sister concepts Slurps and Snack Shack. The s'ONO site details its Tivoli locations and menus, and flagged the kiosk as an Auraria standby years ago. Those student-heavy roots have doubled as a testing ground for recipes that Wise now plans to send east to Hampden.

Turnkey Golden Wok Space Could Speed Ono Era Launch

Public records and local listings show that Golden Wok previously operated at 15282 East Hampden Avenue, which means the spot already comes with built-in restaurant infrastructure. The state liquor-license roster also ties Golden Wok to that Hampden address, a detail that could help streamline the licensing and renovation process. With much of the basic layout already in place, Ono Era is positioned to move from buildout to service faster than a ground-up project might.

Wise has said she hopes Ono Era will restore some of the bustle Golden Wok once brought to the strip while giving Denver students a new off-campus stop for familiar s'ONO staples. For updates and menus, visit the s'ONO site or follow @sono.tivoli on Instagram.
