A quiet stretch of East Bonanza Road turned into a crime scene Tuesday morning after a woman was found dead on the sidewalk outside a business in east Las Vegas, her body showing signs she had been battered, according to police. Officers discovered her next to a building in the 3500 block of East Bonanza Road, and medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released as investigators continue to process the area and interview witnesses.
As reported by FOX5, officers were called around 8 a.m. Tuesday about an unresponsive woman lying outside a business near Pecos. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said detectives determined the woman had been battered at some point, and the case is being treated as a criminal death. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the station.
The Clark County coroner’s office has not released the victim’s name, according to the Las Vegas Sun, which reported that the coroner is withholding her identity pending notification of next of kin. Officials have not yet released a confirmed cause of death while the coroner’s review continues.
