A body was discovered Wednesday morning near the intersection of State Route 104 and South High Street on Columbus' south side, triggering lane closures and a heavy police response. Emergency crews pronounced the person dead at 10:58 a.m., and investigators said the scene would stay active while detectives processed evidence. Authorities have not released the victim's identity.
According to WBNS, officers were called to the area Wednesday, where they found a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m. Homicide detectives responded to the scene, and Sgt. Joe Albert asked anyone with video from the area to contact the homicide unit. Authorities said they have not yet determined whether the death will be treated as a homicide or a suicide.
Road Closures Snarled South-Side Traffic
As officers worked the scene, southbound lanes of South High Street at State Route 104 were closed, and the exit ramp from SR‑104 east to South High was blocked. Drivers were urged to steer clear of the area while crews handled evidence collection and cleanup.
