A planned compliance sweep near Starke ended with two people in handcuffs and what investigators say was a sizable cache of illegal drugs, after Bradford County detectives followed up at a residence and executed a search warrant.
Officers reported hauling out multiple packages of suspected narcotics, including what they described as hundreds of grams of MDMA and marijuana, along with smaller quantities of cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms. Authorities called it a coordinated operation between county detectives and corrections personnel.
According to Action News Jax, the bust grew out of a planned compliance operation in Bradford County, where detectives with the Bradford County Drug Task Force were assisting the Florida Department of Corrections. Investigators had already secured a search warrant for narcotics and narcotic-related items, and used it after coordinating with corrections staff.

The Bradford County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force describes itself as a specialized unit focused on identifying and investigating illegal drug activity, serving narcotics-related search warrants and working cases across the county.
For this operation, the sheriff’s office said task force detectives teamed up with corrections staff as part of a compliance detail. The goal was to check on people under supervision and keep an eye out for contraband, a mix of fieldwork that can turn quickly from paperwork to handcuffs, as it did here.
What Officers Say They Recovered
As reported by Action News Jax, detectives cataloged a lengthy evidence list after the warrant was served.
Investigators said they seized approximately 380.70 grams of marijuana and 371.40 grams of MDMA. They also reported recovering 4.80 grams of cocaine, 2.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, six sublingual Suboxone strips, five THC vape cartridges, eight items of paraphernalia and $345 in U.S. currency. All of it was logged as coming from the search warrant execution.
Who Was Booked And What Comes Next
The sheriff's office identified the two people arrested as Travis Covington and Velma Covington. Both were booked into the Bradford County Jail, where the county provides custody status, bond details and court date information.
Bradford County, a small and largely rural community north of Jacksonville, has been leaning on these kinds of coordinated compliance efforts as part of a broader push to disrupt local distribution networks. Authorities said charging paperwork was not immediately released and asked anyone with information about the case to contact the sheriff's office.
