Keke’s Breakfast Cafe is getting ready to crash the Sacramento brunch scene, with three locations now in the works for the region, franchise partners say.
Sanjeev and Neetu Bali, who already run two Bay Area Denny’s restaurants, plan to open the new cafes and are scouting sites across Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin and Folsom. The couple say they are working with Keke’s real estate team while they sort out leases and construction plans.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the Balis intend to launch three Keke’s locations and “will employ people willing to work and take pride in the Keke’s brand.” The outlet reports the pair have owned and operated two Bay Area Denny’s franchises since 2000 and are coordinating site selection with the chain.
Keke’s corporate channels have also signed off on the expansion. A post on the brand’s account welcomed Sanjeev and Neetu Bali as new franchise partners for the Sacramento market, as shared on LinkedIn. Keke’s is part of Denny’s Corporation, which completed its acquisition of the breakfast brand in July 2022, a deal detailed in a GlobeNewswire press release.
Why Keke’s Is Expanding
Denny’s has been positioning Keke’s for a fast national rollout, pushing the Florida-born brand well beyond its home turf. Industry reporting indicates the chain has signed more than 140 development commitments as it builds toward a larger footprint. Restaurant Dive reports Keke’s is aiming for roughly 200 cafes and is debuting a refreshed store design as part of that growth strategy.
Menu, Hours and What to Expect
Keke’s leans hard into a daytime, breakfast-and-lunch vibe. The menu focuses on pancakes, waffles, three-egg omelets, paninis and salads, along with coffee and brunch cocktails. Keke’s highlights made-to-order dishes and in-house coffee as core to the brand.
Denny’s regulatory filings note that Keke’s restaurants typically operate from about 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., emphasizing the chain’s daylight-only approach. Those hours and broader brand details are outlined in a SEC filing.
Where They Might Land
The Balis told the paper they are weighing sites in Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin and Folsom for the three planned cafes. The Sacramento Bee reports that no exact addresses or firm opening dates have been finalized while negotiations and site analysis continue.
For now, the project is still in the site-selection and permitting phase. The Balis say they will announce specific locations and hiring plans once leases are signed. We will update this space when the cafes lock in opening dates and confirm public-facing details for the Sacramento-area menus.
