Sunday night golf in University City came with an unexpected hazard when a man drove a car straight onto the outfield of Topgolf's Charlotte location, tearing through safety nets, ripping part of a fence and allegedly threatening staff in the chaos that followed. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police estimate the damage at roughly $5,000 and say detectives are still working the case.
Footage, police and damage
Video obtained by local reporters shows a vehicle out on the driving range turf as stunned guests look on, and investigators reviewed the footage during their initial probe. According to a police report cited by Queen City News, the man drove onto the University City Topgolf range, threatened employees and damaged the nets and fence in the process.
Topgolf response
Topgolf is not shutting things down over it. In a statement to Queen City News, a company spokesperson said the "venue is open for normal operations" and that staff had put in temporary fixes to the damaged nets and fencing. The company has not said whether any workers suffered physical injuries. For hours and location details, visit Topgolf Charlotte - University.
Not the first time

Investigation and next steps
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the case remains an active investigation and have not announced any arrests or charges. Detectives are gathering video and witness statements as they decide whether to pursue counts tied to property damage, trespassing or threats.
