CHNO Coffee Co. is getting its brick-and-mortar groove back in Charlotte’s LoSo neighborhood after a sudden shutdown that left the business without a storefront. Owner Carlea Recinos says she has signed a lease for space inside the Elan LoSo apartment community and told followers the “wait is over.” She has not announced an official opening date.
According to The Charlotte Observer, Recinos shared the news on Instagram and confirmed the move into the LoSo development. The paper reports CHNO was forced to close last fall after being removed from a rented spot inside a Chantilly boutique. Boutique operator Amanda Dwiggins told the outlet there had been "an increasing number of contract violations."
From Pop-Ups To A Storefront
Recinos built CHNO as a mobile espresso bar and cold-brew subscription service, growing the brand through markets and private events before chasing a permanent counter of her own. Axios Charlotte previously profiled the company’s early subscription and pop-up model when it launched.
New LoSo Home
The new shop is set to open inside ELAN LoSo at 4612 Gilead Street in Lower South End. The apartment community’s website lists that address, placing CHNO on a busy LoSo retail strip where residents and foot traffic overlap, and Elan LoSo shows the property at 4612 Gilead Street.
What’s Next
Recinos is keeping the opening timeline close to the vest while she readies the space and honors existing pop-up commitments. The Charlotte Observer notes she announced the lease on Instagram and encouraged followers to watch @chnocoffee.co for the official opening date and rollout details.
