A Hamilton County judge is keeping Briasha Stroud right where she is, refusing on Wednesday to lower the $500,000 bond for the Deer Park mother accused of shooting her 12-year-old son on Jan. 26, 2025. Stroud remains in custody after being treated at a hospital and is slated for another court review next month.
Judge Keeps $500,000 Bond In Place
The court shot down a request from Stroud’s attorney to reduce the hefty bond, according to WKRC. The outlet reports Stroud has remained behind bars since being released from the hospital.
Prosecutors’ Account Of The Shooting
Prosecutors say the 12-year-old was shot in a garage on Jan. 26, 2025, at a home in the 4100 block of Glenway Avenue in Deer Park, according to FOX19. The station reported that officers arrived to find both an adult and the child with gunshot wounds, and that the boy was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
911 Call And Indictment
According to WLWT, it was Stroud’s boyfriend who dialed 911, telling dispatchers he believed Stroud had shot her son and then overdosed. A Hamilton County grand jury later indicted Stroud on one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault.
What’s Next In Court
Stroud is scheduled to return to Hamilton County court next month for a competency hearing, WKRC reports. If the judge finds her competent, the case will move into pretrial proceedings on the attempted murder and felonious assault charges.
