Clear skies are parked over Phoenix on Thursday, April 2, 2026, with the Valley expected to top out near 866F and stay dry and comfortable through the afternoon. After a cool night in the low 60s the coldest overnights since mid-March the sunny stretch sticks around before a much faster warm-up kicks in this weekend.
Afternoon And Tonight
Through the afternoon, look for mostly sunny skies with highs near 866F and a light south breeze around 010 mph. Later in the day, winds may swing around to the west-southwest and briefly gust to about 1020 mph. Humidity drops into the teens and low 20s, so it will feel quite dry, and overnight lows are set to dip back into the low 60s.
Weekend Warm-Up
Temperatures waste no time climbing. Saturday is expected to reach about 926F and Sunday should be near 956F, with mid-90s likely hanging on into early next week. The lower deserts are expected to stay dry, though a weak southeasterly surge could stir up showers or an isolated thunderstorm over the eastern Arizona high country on Sunday. Phoenix itself is expected to remain rain-free, according to NWS Phoenix.
Heat Relief And Tips
With the rapid warm-up on the way, it is a good time to shift heavy outdoor chores to the morning hours, keep extra water on hand for people and pets, and plan for warmer nights that make cooling a little tougher. The city’s Heat Relief Network includes a 24/7 downtown respite center at 20 W. Jackson Street and partner locations such as Justa Center at 1001 W. Jefferson St.; both are part of the city’s 2026 heat-response plan. For a full list of sites, locations, and hours, see the local guidance outlined by the City of Phoenix.
