A tense few moments at West Bountiful Elementary on Friday ended with police tackling a suspect on school grounds, and the campus was placed on temporary lockdown. Officers chased down an unarmed man near students, while staff quickly secured classrooms and waited for the all clear. Police later arrested the suspect and a woman connected to the case, and both were booked into jail.
How police say it unfolded
Officers first tracked down a vehicle tied to the suspect, then went to his residence to find him. There, a woman allegedly gave officers false information about where he was. According to KUTV, the man slipped out a back way and took off on foot. After a short chase, officers caught up with him on the grounds of West Bountiful Elementary and took him into custody.
