A routine plate check on a quiet Mt. Juliet roadway turned into a major felony arrest early Saturday, when officers pulled over a car and discovered the driver was a wanted Nashville murder suspect who had allegedly been on the run for months.
Mt. Juliet police say 38-year-old Quotize L. Carter, Sr. was stopped around Lebanon Road near Nashville Road after an officer ran a temporary license plate and decided to pull the vehicle over. Carter was taken into custody on a felony criminal homicide charge and, according to investigators, had been wanted since October 2025.
WSMV reports that an Mt. Juliet officer ran a proactive check on the temporary tag at about 3 a.m., which quickly flagged the vehicle and led to Carter’s arrest on the criminal homicide warrant.
How Officers Say They Zeroed In On The Car
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Newsroom, the department has leaned heavily on Guardian Shield license plate reader technology and good old-fashioned plate checks in recent months, especially along Lebanon Road and other busy corridors.
MJPD has credited that mix of tech and patrol work with multiple recent arrests in the same general area, saying the system helps officers quickly identify vehicles tied to ongoing investigations or outstanding warrants.
Department Message And Tip Line
The department also continues to stress that none of this works in a vacuum. Officials regularly highlight proactive patrols and cross-agency cooperation as key pieces of their enforcement strategy.
“We encourage anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Mt. Juliet Police Department at 615-754-2550,” the agency stated on its newsroom.
Homicide Charge And What Comes Next
WSMV reports that Carter faces a felony criminal homicide charge and had been wanted in connection with a Nashville case since October 2025. The outlet noted that it has contacted the Metro Nashville Police Department for more information on the underlying homicide investigation.
The arrest highlights how what starts as a seemingly routine traffic stop, combined with automated plate checks, can uncover suspects accused of serious violent crimes. It also shows how a smaller suburb like Mt. Juliet coordinates with regional partners when a high-profile warrant surfaces on its streets.
Authorities have not released additional details about the alleged homicide. Anyone with information is urged to reach out to MJPD or Metro Nashville detectives through official channels.
