A late-night argument on Eastern Parkway turned deadly Tuesday when a 36-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Crown Heights, police said. The victim, identified by the NYPD as Terrence Smith of Brooklyn, was found bleeding in front of 1140 Eastern Parkway and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Officials said the attack happened around 11:05 p.m.
What police say
Investigators say the stabbing followed a verbal dispute and that Smith suffered a stab wound to his stomach. Police described the suspect as a woman wearing a black tracksuit and a multicolored bonnet who was last seen running from the area. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact investigators, according to PIX11.
Recent violence in the neighborhood
The killing is the latest high-profile incident along or near Eastern Parkway, a corridor that has seen several violent events in recent weeks. In late March, a stabbing at the Ebbets Field complex left a 74-year-old woman dead, a case that raised fresh concerns about safety in the area. Local outlets have reported residents asking for stepped-up patrols and more community outreach in response to recent incidents, as detailed in a bloody night at Ebbets Field.
