Dallas woke up to clear skies and a cool mid-40s chill this morning, setting the stage for a bright, comfortable afternoon. With highs near 74°F and only a light breeze expected, it is about as close to ideal outdoor weather as North Texas gets.
Sunny Sunday, Comfortable Afternoon
Morning lows will land in the mid-40s, with clouds clearing quickly and plenty of sunshine through the afternoon. Winds will stay light from the east to east-northeast, around 0 to 5 mph, keeping conditions calm for park walks, patio brunches or a round of errands. Any patchy fog in low-lying spots should fade not long after sunrise.
Late Monday Night Into Tuesday
By tomorrow, Gulf moisture starts sliding back to the north, bringing a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms into the early hours of Tuesday, roughly between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Forecasters are calling for about a 30 to 40 percent chance of rain during that window. Tuesday should top out near 68°F, with south-southeast winds that could gust to around 20 mph. Temperatures climb again through midweek, with highs in the upper 70s on Wednesday and the low 80s by Thursday. Central Texas could see the heaviest rainfall totals, up to around an inch, through midweek, while areas north of the Metroplex are expected to pick up less. Spotter activation is not expected at this time, according to NWS Fort Worth.
Plan Ahead
If you have early plans on Tuesday, it would not hurt to budget a few extra minutes for a potentially damp commute and keep an umbrella in the car. Most of the Metroplex is not looking at a long washout, but brief downpours could knock down visibility and slick up the roads. Until then, enjoy the mild stretch from Sunday into Monday before the weather turns more unsettled later in the week.
