Early Tuesday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C., a quiet residential block in Washington Highlands turned into a crime scene after a man was shot and killed, police said. Officers were called to the 400 block of Brandywine Street SE around 2:08 a.m., where they found an adult male who was unconscious and not breathing. D.C. Fire and EMS personnel tried lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

MPD detectives are actively investigating the shooting and say more details will be released as their inquiry moves forward, according to WJLA. Anyone who was in the area early Tuesday and saw anything, or captured video on a doorbell camera, dashcam, or phone, is urged to share that information with police through the tip line.
