A Sunday evening drive in southwest Miami-Dade ended in tragedy when a man’s car slammed into a tree along Southwest 127th Avenue, leaving investigators with more questions than answers.

Patient Taken To Kendall Trauma Center
HCA Florida Kendall Hospital lists round-the-clock adult and pediatric emergency care and is verified as a Level I trauma center, the county’s primary destination for severe injuries. The hospital’s public information also lists its Kendall campus at 11750 SW 40th Street in Miami. More information on the facility’s capabilities is available via HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.
Why Tree Strikes Are Particularly Dangerous
Crashes into fixed roadside objects such as trees are among the deadliest single-vehicle collisions, and roadway-departure crashes account for more than half of all U.S. highway fatalities. The Federal Highway Administration notes that strategies like removing or shielding hazardous trees, adding rumble strips, and improving shoulders are proven ways to reduce run-off-road deaths. For details on these countermeasures, see the Federal Highway Administration’s resources at FHWA roadway-departure guidance.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not released the driver’s name or explained what might have led up to the crash. No additional details were immediately made public, and detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade investigators, according to Local 10.
