Phoenix is waking up to mostly clear skies and a mild start Monday, with early-morning temperatures in the mid-60s and afternoon highs expected to top out near 80°F. The calm, however, will not last all day. West-southwest winds are on track to kick up this afternoon and evening, with gusts frequently in the 20–30 mph range. There is also a slight chance of some light late-night showers on Monday, April 13, 2026, though most Valley neighborhoods will be lucky to get a brief sprinkle.
Afternoon Winds Start Flexing
Winds will begin the day out of the southeast before swinging around to a west-southwest direction by mid-afternoon as a weak frontal boundary moves through. Speeds are expected to increase to around 5–10 mph sustained, with gusts often 20–30 mph and a few locally higher bursts.
No watches or warnings are currently posted for the metro, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix. Still, anything light or loose in the yard is fair game for a short-distance flight, so officials recommend securing outdoor items before the wind ramps up tonight.
Sprinkles Try For A Cameo Late
A modest disturbance sliding through the region could squeeze out a few very light showers after sunset, mainly over higher terrain. For most lower-desert spots, rainfall totals, if any, will likely stay under a tenth of an inch, with any showers brief, patchy, and far from a soaking rain.
Looking Ahead This Week
Dry, slightly cooler air moves back in Tuesday, bringing a sunny day with highs near 79°F. From there, a warming trend takes over: highs climb into the mid-80s by Wednesday, then into the upper-80s to near 90°F on Thursday.
Late in the week, another period of breezy conditions is possible. As humidity drops, forecasters are eyeing a stretch of elevated fire-weather concern, particularly for inland and higher-elevation areas.
How To Play It
Before heading out today, take a minute to tie down patio furniture, umbrellas, and other lightweight yard items ahead of the afternoon and evening gusts. If you have late-evening travel or outdoor plans on Monday, April 13, 2026, allow a little extra time in case wind or brief showers slow you down.
Air travelers should keep an eye on alerts from their airline. Stronger gusts could lead to minor delays tonight, although forecasters are not anticipating major travel disruptions.
