The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they say turned a Facebook Marketplace meet-up in Lackawanna into his own personal dirt bike getaway.
According to JSO, the seller met the buyer on Nolan Street off Lenox Avenue for what was supposed to be a routine sale. The buyer asked to take the bike for a test ride, then took off and never came back, prompting JSO to release images of the man and ask the public for help.

In a post from the Jax Sheriff's Office, investigators say the sale was set up through Facebook Marketplace. After the test ride request turned into a disappearance, the post notes that the buyer's Marketplace account was later removed. The case is listed under CCR#2026-220605, and JSO is asking anyone with information to call its non-emergency line at 904-630-0500.

Police and consumer-watchdog reporting say this type of setup, whether a test ride or staged payment, is a common tactic to walk off with high-value items without paying. Local coverage that cites Consumer Reports notes JSO urges residents to meet buyers at police substations or the Police Memorial Building and to verify payment before handing anything over, as outlined by News4JAX.
How To Get Tips To Investigators
Anyone who recognizes the man in the released images is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or submit an anonymous tip to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. The First Coast Crime Stoppers site notes that tips can be submitted anonymously online and that callers may be eligible for a reward if their information leads to an arrest.
Authorities remind sellers of high-value items to meet buyers in public, bring someone along, confirm that payments are legitimate and fully posted to an account, and use police-station exchange spots when possible. Investigators say any detail, including a face, vehicle description or social account, could help, and they are encouraging residents to contact JSO or First Coast Crime Stoppers with any information.
