Lancaster’s longtime Mexican favorite Don Cuco may have gone dark earlier this year, but the story is not over yet. The owners are planning a comeback under a new name and in a fresh space, with the restaurant set to reopen as Cuco’s Cantina at 2010 W Ave J8, Suite 101 in Lancaster. Co-owner Jayson Garcia told a local outlet that the concept is still being dialed in and that the team is focused on securing the all-important alcohol permit before locking in an opening date.
According to What Now Los Angeles, Garcia confirmed the relocation and rebrand in a message to the site. That report notes the original Lancaster location shut its doors earlier this year and that Cuco’s Cantina is “in the process of securing an ABC permit,” with menu specifics still to come.
Menu And Margaritas
Don Cuco built its reputation on familiar comfort dishes, with a lineup that leaned classic: quesadillas, taquitos, nachos, enchiladas and burritos, plus plenty of shareable plates that kept big groups fed and happy. The bar program has long been margarita heavy, and the current Hacienda Don Cuco's cocktail menu shows off specialty spins like the Macho Margarita, the Coronarita and a Spicy Cuco Margarita.
