
What began as a routine shift for a downtown parking lot worker turned violent yesterday when the employee was stabbed in the head near the Ace Parking tailgate lot by K Street and 13th Street, according to San Diego police. Officers said the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, and a suspect was later detained in connection with the attack.
The stabbing happened just outside the Ace Parking lot that serves Padres tailgates and other events, according to FOX5 San Diego. A parking lot employee told the outlet the victim also worked at the lot and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities did not immediately release details on the victim's condition.
Police response
San Diego police confirmed that a person was stabbed in the head and reported that a subject is in custody, according to FOX5 San Diego. Officers remained at the scene interviewing witnesses late into the evening. Police had not released the names of either the victim or the detained individual, and it was not immediately clear whether the person in custody would face criminal charges.

The attack adds to a tense stretch for downtown San Diego, which has already seen serious violent incidents this year, including a fatal stabbing in February, according to a City of San Diego press release. In that earlier case, police said the investigation was ongoing as detectives followed leads and interviewed witnesses.
