Road safety and local context
Stanton Road is a rural two-lane route that has seen its share of serious wrecks in recent years, a reminder that quiet farm country does not always mean low risk. State and county records also show planned work on nearby corridors. The Michigan Department of Transportation's 2026-2029 STIP lists a project on M-91 from Stanton Road north to Kendaville Road (MDOT STIP), and Montcalm County Road Commission work orders include maintenance on Blackmer Road (Montcalm Road Commission). Officials say these projects are intended to improve safety on higher-speed rural roads, although road work is handled separately from individual crash investigations.
