Wake Forest police converged on a home in the 9300 block of Perini Court near Ligon Mill Road on Easter Sunday after reports of gunfire, according to town officials. Officers taped off the area with crime-scene barriers and worked into the evening to figure out whether anyone had been hurt.
Scene and response
CBS17 reported that several police vehicles and lines of crime-scene tape surrounded a residence near Margot's Avenue and Ligon Mill Road following the shooting call. Officers stayed on site while investigators went door to door in the immediate area and collected evidence.
Barricade and suspect
In a statement to CBS17, a Town of Wake Forest spokesperson said that “the suspect who had barricaded herself for a short while has emerged.” Police then secured the house and continued speaking with neighbors as the active investigation moved forward.
Investigation and context
Town officials said they were still working to confirm whether anyone was injured and would release more information once details were verified. The Perini Court call came just days after a separate shots-fired response in the New Hope Village area earlier in the week, marking a busy stretch for Wake Forest officers, according to WRAL.
Where to get updates
Authorities did not immediately release any names or information about possible charges as detectives continued working the scene into the evening. Residents with tips or questions can find official contact details and notices on the town's communications page at the Town of Wake Forest.
