Edgar’s, the restaurant tucked along the J.E. Good Park golf course in West Akron, will serve its last meals this Saturday, April 4. In a social media message, the owners thanked patrons for "20 amazing years."
The owners said the dining room will close after service on Saturday, an announcement and final-day detail reported this week by Cleveland.com. Edgar's sits at 530 Nome Ave., just off Interstate 77, with a patio that looks out over the Good Park course. The closure notice did not include plans for a sale or a reopening timeline.
A West Akron staple since 2005
Edgar's opened at Good Park Golf Course in 2005 as a partnership that included executive chef Glenn Gillespie, and its menu built on Creole and other Southern flavors quickly became a neighborhood draw. Those details appear on the restaurant's site, which lists menus, hours and contact information for the Good Park location, according to the restaurant's website.
Restaurant: Impossible spotlight
The eatery later drew national attention when Food Network revisited it in 2020 as part of the "Restaurant: Impossible: Back in Business" specials. That episode and subsequent listings are noted by TV Guide.
Cleveland.com also notes that Debbie Robinson and partners took over the restaurant in 2005 and that Glenn Gillespie assumed ownership in 2012, and it quoted the owners' social post that closed with "Thank you for 20 amazing years." For customers, Edgar's phone and website remain the best places to check for any last-minute updates on hours or a possible farewell event.
